  1. I prefer to develop on a branch that has at least security/maintenance releases available for some time. For example, look at WordPress. Version 4.0 was released in September 2014 but is still being supported via patches as late as 20th April 2017. https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Versions Wow. I'm more like max 1.5 to 2 years.
  2. But 1.6 is only supported till October 2018 (maintenance releases). That would be hard to pitch to a client considering upgrading to 1.7 would require major dev work all over again after a year.
  3. What's the recommended version now? Still 1.6? Edit: new dev here. Confused about which version to learn and develop for production.
  4. Hello everyone, I'm a php dev and plan to start developing e-commerce stores. I chose PrestaShop as the platform (hope that was the right decision!). Should I start my learning (and development) with 1.6 or 1.7? Is 1.7 production ready and has the support of popular modules/themes being developed for 1.7? I think I'll probably develop my first store in a month or so. Would 1.6 be a safer approach for this year, or should I stop thinking about it and just learn and develop 1.7? Thanks. Looking forward to productive discussions in this community!
