Theme or Template Update

Hi all:

 

I have a website for quite some years and today just notice that my template had a few updates over those years and fix some of the bugs I still have, I would like to know how can I update the template/theme without loosing the settings I already have. Two zip files are inside the template folder "Data" and "Theme" I fear that replacing the files will make me loose the settings, dont know also if I should install it like I did the first time and it will only replace what is needed. Thank you for all the help.
