Recommended way to disable the "place my order" button once clicked?

Hi,

Newbie to PrestaShop here. Running 1.6.1.24.

I have found that when someone double clicks on the "Place my order" button, the site will return a plain HTML (i.e., no theme) error message. 

"Cart cannot be loaded or an order has already been placed using this cart"

The order will be recorded I want to disable the button to prevent this from happening.

I have tried the Cheque and Bank wire modules, and they both have the same issue.

It is supposed to be a relatively easy fix either through the onclick event. I can't seem to find the corresponding template, or is it dynamically generated?

Please let me know the right and recommended file to edit to incorporate such logic. Thanks!
