Prestashop 1.7.4.1 add left sidebar category menu

Hello, sorry if the topic is not a new one, but between all the research I did, I couldn't find anything that helped me solve this.

I've got a site with prestashop v 1.7.4.1 and I need to add the left sidebar menu (that appears only in the category pages) to at least the home page too, and maybe also to the product page (but I'm not sure about that one for now).
I'm using the default theme 'classic v. 1.0.0', and in the advanced customization tab the only thing I find is the option to add a child css theme, but since it has been quite some years since I last used something like that, and never on a Prestashop site, I'm a little more rusty that I'm comfortable with, so, before doing something utterly stupid, I'd like to find a decent solution 😅
