Order emails template not populated for certain customers

We are seeing that the email templates for orders are not being populated properly. Only one customer is seeing this issue. 

The email shows:

HI {FIRSTNAME} {LASTNAME},
THANK YOU FOR SHOPPING WITH {SHOP_NAME}!
etc, etc, etc

Instead of showing:

HI John Smith,
THANK YOU FOR SHOPPING WITH The Bottle Shop!

etc, etc, etc

Every other user sees the correct information in the email. 

 

Any ideas?

Figured it out.

[email protected] causes the template engine to fail, but [email protected] does not.

VERY ODD bug....
