Prestashop 1.4 warning on default currency and other comments

Recommended Posts

I have installed version 1.4.0.17 on to my test website and have been looking through it and then found this message by the default currency.

If you change default currency, you will have to manually edit every product price.

It is not on version 1.3.2.3 that I am using so I am a little confused as to why this message should be here now as it appears a step backwards if you have to manually update every product price when changing the default currency.

I would have thought that version 1.4 would also have implemented auto currency update and multi-stores.

Having purchased quite a few mods and themes for Prestashop I am getting a little miffed with how far behind others it is falling in some aspects.

Open Cart has both auto currency update and multi-store facility and after using Prestashop for a while now I am seriously considering moving over to OC which isn't a very good advert for PS.

Don't take this post too negatively as overall I am pleased with PS but I have posted issues before and they take ages to get answered if at all.

Personally I think that the team should look at resolving outstanding issues that are in PS before working on new versions to add features. New features are only of interest if other issues have been resolved and bought up to date with other carts.

Not even a single quote in two days from anyone at Prestashop!

Time to move on and use a cart that developers listen to problems unlike PS whose developers only seem interested in plugging barcamp, their mods, and their partners mods.

The admin looks like an advertising display now instead of an admin section.

Seems to me that unless PS team are interested in what you have to say they just ignore you.

Not the best way to encourage new users.

Having used PS for a while I would say to any prospective users to look elsewhere due to the arrogance of the Prestashop team because when you hit snags they just don't respond.

Hi Darren,

sorry for the delay, but 2 days in not so much ... we are all working hard for the solution, fixing 1.4 bug. As we have to be ready for the barcamp we need of course to prepare some ppt and to think about everything.

About changing default currency, it was the same problem in 1.3, but there was no warning message, so we added it some days before the release date because date was too close for making this big change (creating an update price process for every price fields, testing it in different platform and configuration).

Multi-store will be for 1.5

I agree with you, we really need to resolve all bug, but other web merchant also want really new feature we add to implement in order to make our solution the best.

Regards,

Hi Michael,

Could you clarify exactly what happens if you change the default currency ? in v 1.4

I currently have it set to US $ in order to input products, but I want to change it to Euro to input postage weight rates,

If I do this what will happen to the products ? And the currency rates ?

Sorry to ask but I've been searching for answers in the forums & admin guides but can't seem to find any,
