I want to redirect my brands url which is currently {rewrite}/ to only {rewrite}

my brand URL is currently {rewrite}/ but if i change it to only {rewrite}... the page redirects me to some other category page instead i just want that when i enter www.mywebsite.com/brands it must redirect to www.mywebsite.com/brands/ how can i get this

You can't keep both to the same value, one needs to change. Unless you use thirtybees, I think I recall being able to do that with it (but you should try it first)
