wert790
Hi!I'm having trouble installing google analytics on my site. I've tried to use the standard module for GA, but the tracking code does not show up anywhere in the source code. I've also tried to manually add the tracking code in header.tpl just before the </header> tag, with the result that all of the site crashes (shows no content). I've also tried to add the tracking code to footer.tpl in my theme directory: same thing here, the footer doesn't show at all.Tried to fix this for hours without success, any ideas? Would really appreciate it!Cheers,Viktor

You can put the code in the footer.tpl or header.tpl before the tag </head>The secret is any code that you want to put in the Prestashop you need add 2 tags. [removed] {literal} your content here {/literal} [removed] I hope help you guys here and future users.Cheers,Diego.

SteveW1805
Which exact file to we need to add this to guys?Or is there a Google Analytics Module ???Many thanks,S
wert790
There is a google analytics module installed from scratch. That didn't work for me though, so i pasted the code mentioned in this thread (including the code snippet for your analytics account) in the HEADER.TPL file. Just before </head>. It is also possible to paste it in the footer.tpl though.
SteveW1805
I installed the Analytics module and it works fine.It just asks you for the Google (the UA code) code and it adds it into the html.
BWT
spaw3- I have heard of the "literal" tag before what is the "removed" tag for how does it work with "literal" is it needed with the "literal" tag when you use it always?I am going to test this out because i too can't get google analytics working in version 1.4 and that stinks because in version 1.3 it worked great!I'll post the next day if it worked and anyother results thank you for the suggestions. BWT
YEah thats what i thought it was! What was the "removed" did something get removed from the forum you wrote? I Pasted in new google code to a new location yesterday and am going to check now to see if i have any better results in my analytics from google it takes about 24 hours to see any results so, that stinks because you really only can do one thing a day to see if it works better ya know? As of now i have the regular module installed and it seems to only track the entrance page.UPDATEOk from my understanding is that if i see my entrance page being tracked google analytics is working what puzzles me is in prestashop version 1.3 all you had to do was enable it add you ID to the module and everything was tracked but thats not the case in prestashop version 1.4 google analytics seems to not work the same way. I am going to create goals and funnels to see if this is the reason why converstions are not tracking in my analytics. ............ ok, Just finished adding the goals and the funnels for some of them I'll let you know tommorrow if this was the issue. SteveW1805
The analytics does not seem to notify Google in 1.4.I have been all over my shop configuring it etc and must have clicked hundred of pages.None show up in Google??????
BWT
Yesterday I configured goals and funneling in the analytic and it works. All i need is a sale today to see if that tracks as wellIt does track--pages-visits-goal tracking-conversion (i'll get back to you on this)-----------------------------------------------Here is a great alternative that tracks in real time or near to it! Has everything GA has I am using it now and it works better. http://www.prestashop.com/forums/viewthread/107585/----------------------------------------------UPDATE:-I made a few sales with the Google checkout and the result is it does NOT display in the analytic nor does direct customer back to the account after the purchase.-it does NOT add to your back office ORDER how ever you do get an email notifying of the purchase.Everything else seems to work! I wish this module worked as well as it did in the older version. Anyone know who created this module?UPDATE: I upgraded to the newest version of google checkout in 1.4.3 and that has a new google module everything works well with it
