setting write permission (chmod 777) and other settings.

Recommended Posts

Hi, I was wondering how I set write permissions for setting up the prestacart 1.4.

I need to set them according to what is stated on the set up screen. I also need to know what not to do so I don't screw it all up. Like I'm not suppose to set write permissions for certain files or something like that.

Write permissions on files and folders:

/config
/tools/smarty/compile
/tools/smarty/cache
/tools/smarty_v2/compile
/tools/smarty_v2/cache
/sitemap.xml

Write permissions on folders and subfolders/recursively:

/img
/mails
/modules
/themes/prestashop/lang
/themes/prestashop/cache
/translations
/upload
/download

also how and where do I set these settings:

Allowed to open external URLs
PHP register global option is off (recommended)
GZIP compression is on (recommended)
Mcrypt is available (recommended)

I'd be so grateful for any help I can get!

you should be able to change your permission in your hosting control panel. what hosting do you use? Go to files and select a check box next to the file your want to change permission for thats how my hosting permissions work I am not sure about others and I would like to know if you need to change permissions for upgading say in the settings.ini.php file do you have to change them back after your done the upgrade?
