Configuring taxes 1.4 Final

Recommended Posts

Has anyone gotten tax functions to operate correctly in 1.4?

I have the tax enabled on the taxes page, I have the tax rules set to apply state tax only. I have a text carrier set-up to with ranges configured. I have a customer set-up within the taxable state and no taxes are applied.

I had 1.3 taxes set-up but can't find an error anywhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The only way I have found is if you enable the state tax rule in the catalog entry. I have tested with one instate and one out of state test customer and it only charges tax to the instate customer. You can only select one tax so hopefully that is all you need to do.

etrfl,

If you want your taxes to display in the Cart on a separate line, go to Back Office->Payment->Taxes. At the bottom of that page you will find the "Tax Options" Section. Enable (check the "yes" option), then Save.

After you refresh your store, you should now see a line for taxes in your Cart Block.

Thanks for the quick replies. I have only added one module, a slide show to the homepage. I just turned this feature on last night and have been toying with 1.4 for a month or so. I don't have any error messages with debugging on. I really would like to get the taxes configured though. Right setting all the products to collect my states tax will only hold water for so long.

All,

It appears that a work-around for the tax problem now exists. Check out the posts at http://www.prestashop.com/bug_tracker/view/8315/. It's a bit convoluted, but Prestashop says they have it fixed and that fix will come out in the next revision. Try out the fix and let this thread know if you can't make it work. It works great for me now, except that I can't put in ranges of zip codes. Hopefully, that will be part of the upcoming fix.

Curt,

Thanks for the link, I will work on it this weekend . I saw that report a while back before the fix was issued. One question, you said you replaced the single quotes, what do you mean by that?

"I figured out what happened. I took a close look at the code you provided and noticed that the single quote characters appeared to be different that what comes up when I just type a single quote. I replaced all the single quotes in the pasted coded and it works fine now."

etrfl,

Sorry about that. Instead of saying "single quote," I should have said "apostrophe." In other words, in the code that bellini13 has in the bug report, there are characters that look like apostrophes, but they are not. Replace those characters that look like apostrophes by deleting them and then typing a new apostrophe. You should notice a difference in the way they look.

However, you should not have to replace the other characters that are slanted the other way. I don't know what they are called, but you can find that character on your keyboard (assuming it is like mine) just to the left of the "1" key. It is below the tilde character.

I changed the code and quotes. I will double check and make sure I didn't mess anything up. Taxes were so simple in 1.3.

Edit: I missed the part where range does not work. If I enter a single zip it will work. My county has about 2 dozen zips so I guess I will have to enter them one at a time.

Edit 2: What I don't understand is what if I have two different taxes to charge. If I can only choose 1 per product, what can I do?

Hi all

I can not get my shop taxes to work correctly I am using version 1.4.4 and I had the same problem in 1.4.3. I am in USA California and I need to collect taxes for all the counties within the state. My county is San Bernardo and my rate is 7.75% other counties like Los Angles is 8.75 % so I set up my base rate for California as 7.75 % and setup a county for Los Angles at 1% and added all the zip codes for this county one at a time. I followed Curts videos to set it all up and I have a test product of $100 to easily see the rate. However when I sign on with my San Bernardo county address 92392 I get the 8.75% tax rate. I have check the LA tax zipcodes and 92392 is Not in that county rate that I set up but it still shows the 8.75 rate rather than the 7.75 rate that it should be. It works fine for out of state addresses but not for CA. does anyone know if the but for county tax has been fixed in the new 1.4.4 version? Thanks for your help.

Frustrated.
