Is it possible create and show items without images ?

Dear all,

I'm wondering if it's possible to present on shop only a list of items "without" any image ?

I have to show only a flat list of possible products (steel and ferrous materials)  where there are no picture to show because it doesn't make sense . 
PS , also if you don't upload a pic take a white space reserved for each item shown on shop.

How can I do that ?  It sounds strange that nobody has had similar need .... ;-))
