[Solved] 1.4 site 4 times slower!

Recommended Posts

Upgraded live site from 1.3.7 to 1.4, still some problems with but most disturbing is that the site is 4 times slower; anyone else with this problem ?
Other worries, languages, romanian is seen as spanish, par consequence the .htaccess is generated in spanish too; in BO products page does not appear the categories listed so I cannot edit a product because I can't assign it to a category , can't any changes because it can't be saved, I get errors that I must chhose a category which obviously I cannot do.

i have the same problem, the migration was successful, but the frontend was incredible SLOWWWW!!! real slow, i try everything (modification of the htaccess, smarty, etc..) and nothing, frontend slowwwwwwwwww!!

I have to rollback to the old version

Any tip for fixing the slow loading in the frontend?

Notes: i made the migration from 1.3.1 to 1.4, my store is hosted in bluehost!!!!

I have same too. very frustrating and not really worth using - such a shame.
Hopefully an update will come out. I was wondering whether it could be an incompatible module causing iot because the back office modules list will not show either.

Have the same problem. the front end is too slow. I installed prestashop on local machine and it is slow. Page Uploading takes around 6-7 sec, that is not acceptable for e shopping- customers will leave. I do not want even want to go with 1.4 on hosting, afraid it would be more slower.

Does anyone has any suggestions?

1.4 is incredible slow.. 6-7 sec/page. that is a shame.. with all the ccc activated

1.4 score with PageSpeed 79 - 1.3.7 score was 77
1.4 score with YSlow 79 - 1.3.7 score was 75

so.. no real improvements

@PrestaTeam, where is that 98 score that you promised?!

Hi,
We just made test the 30th of March (just before the barcamp) to see ourselves if the 98 score was here, and it was, so I don't think it's "a shame", but just about config. Can you give us your url to see if we can help you ?

what about the smarty cache ? What about the smarty force compile option (has to be set to off)?

what about media server ?

which version of smarty by the way ? Is your theme compatible 1.4 (it has to be for ccc)

Ok.

First, I am sorry for the "shame" word. Is a bad one.. I know that you work hard to improve prestashop.

Now, I made the test on 2 v. 1.4.0.17 sites:

www.buchetesuperbe.ro - the scores for this one are even worse

uses the free 1.4 theme from prestashop

and

www.coroane-funerare.eu
matrice theme v 1.4

on bouth sites:

Smarty:

Force - no
Cache - yes

CCC:

Smart cache pentru CSS - on

Smart cache pentru JavaScript - on

Minify HTML - on

Compriess inline JavaScript in HTML - on

Risc ridicat al comprimării HTML - on

Cripting:

Use Rijndael with mcrypt lib.

Caching:

Use cache - on

Cacheing system: file sistem
Folder Depth: 1

Media servers - not configured - I still looking on that one

If you need more info or acces on back office ask..

I realy hope that I am wrong.. becouse I had great expectation from 1.4..

With YSlow I see where your sites got an "F" note and there is advise to improve the note.

It seems the http optimization is also missing (the apache cache you have to add in .htaccess , in Tools > Generators)

Does this helps you ?

Doesn't help me.. can you give way more detail.. like where the file should be found, how and what to update on it exactly.. I am having same issue.

Tomer had said something about the product.php file causing the issues..
My web host almost shut me down saying my product.php file was using too many resources. I have the same setting correct above so that is not the issue.. my site is: www.toolsupplycenter.com
F score.. on speed.

ok. so.. here is my feedback:

Prestashop improvements are worth exacly 0 points when testing with Yslow and Page Speed. Activated or deactivated - the same results.

When I say this I don`t count in the Media Server for CCC - there is no "how to" tutorial and I coud not use it (I think most members of the comunity will agree)

Comparing prestashop 1.4.0.17 with prestashop 1.3.1 and 1.3.7 gives me approximately the same results (75 - 79 points in Yslow and Page Speed)

I`ve just spend most of the day testing and testing, and I`ve managed to get some better scores with some code lines in htaccess, but not with settings incorporated in prestashop platform.

Still, I can`t get more then 89 points on YSlow and 80 Points on Page Speed

@Michaël Marinetti

There is advice to improve the code (from YSlow and Page Speed, not from Prestashop), sure, but when you say "we have a 98 score" you shoud add "after we make some code ajustments using advice from 3rd party software"..

If "it seems the http optimization is missing" you coud help me and the others that have posted here by giving us "the apache cache" that we have to add in htaccess.

Over all, I think that prestashop 1.4 has great improvements, but is not faster at all. Or.. the CCC is not working without the Media Server?

I`m not the bad man... I just think I got punked to upgrade

Hi,

In the admin panel, go to the "Tools > Generators" tab, then tick the box "Optimization" and generate again your .htaccess file.

This will automatically add to your .htaccess the necessary lines for HTTP optimization ;-)

We will be happy to work with you guyz improving the "default" score. Maybe we should give advices to merchants in order them to configure their shop properly to maximize these scores.

Regards,

Hi,

I didn't see there was answers after mine, I'm sorry.

Thanks to Bruno for this, and if it's not already the case, you can also go to Preferences > Performances and set "Force Smarty Compilation" to no (and yes for the cache).

About CCC, it's about compressing js and css content, but you need to use the default smarty engine and have a valid 1.4 theme (if you use smarty_v2 (the old one) this can't work.)

About media server, you can have them if you have in different servers your /img directory : this way PrestaShop will alternate the media sources and the load will be balanced between your servers.

Just remember to have your servers synchronized (with rsync for example).
