I do not see the Generate button .htaccess of BO

I need a little help:
I try to enable generating Friendly URL: . htaccess files, but I do not see the Generate button .htaccess of BO
(Back Office>> Tools>> Generators), and if i want to activate Friendly URL: ( the Back Office>> Preferences) pictures of products disappear

Mention that using PrestaShop 1.3.2
Please if you can help a bit.

Do you have a .htacess file already there? If not - you need to have existing file as PS does not create one it simply overwrites one.

Make sure one does not exist - this may stop you store working - it sounds like you dont but be sure and check.

create a blank file in notepad called htacess.txt - ftp to your shops directory and copy file there.

Rename the file .htacess

Dont forget the dot at the front. Voila

file. htaccess must be placed in FTP BO folder ? or it does not matter?

yeah it matters.

It should be in the same directory as your store. If you store address is like the www.myshop.com then put the file in the Public html folder (assuming you have common server setup) - basically the root of the store.

If you store address is something like www.mywebdomian.com/myshop then place the file in the directory "my shop" or whatever your folder is called.
