Product import Image path changes

New to prestashop and trying to import products and images but the path to the image files seems to get changed after importing.

In the import csv I have the path to the image as this  http://mydomain/p17/img/p/test1.jpg

On the import screen the path shows the same as above

After importing, the product appears fine but with no image.

Exporting the products shows that the path to the image has changed to  http://mydomain/p17//test1.jpg

Being new to prestashop I'm a little confused why the path name would change during importing and the /img/p be removed

 

Any thoughts and suggestions gladly accept
