Odd loading behavior

Please forgive a newbie question, but I've been making a few tweaks to my shop and may have caused a loading glitch.

I added html to the header for a links bar, with corresponding css. I guessed at where the new code should go. Once it loads it works fine, but the page is loading a little slower and elements seem to be loading out of order. I think my changes may have caused this, but am at a loss for how to fix it. I've changed the body background to black to highlight the problem.
