Shop with several products, but hundreds of versions

Hi,

I need to build a store with only 6-7 main products but each product will have a choice of hundreds of versions.

I'm thinking about selection list. Something like for example on www.mgsm.pl with phones, as in the picture below.

Customer selects the product + selects the dedicated version > information about the selected version after placing the order goes to the order comment or another field in the order.

A list of at least two steps like in MGSM.pl >>  BRAND > MODEL.

List of versions with the possibility of updating from some xls file etc. 

Have you seen a similar ready solution? or have an idea how to do it? or maybe my thinking is wrong and you have other ideas?
