Are you sure this is a good idea? Just seems like you would be encouraging users to setup new accounts on every order. This makes your data messy.

Sure if you are the owner of the shop you will probably recognise similar names / addresses a lot of the time, but it's a very awkward position to put yourself in!

Given the demographic we're going for, I don't think that this would be a major issue.... I had thought of this but dismissed the amount of times it could happen versus the benefits that the offer could bring in terms of new customers...!!

Is it possible to offer this however??

Yes Paul it's possible in this way:
1. create a new voucher like 10off named welcome voucher -> or anything you like
2. go to modules, install the newsletter block.
3. click configure and place the code of the voucher in the box "Welcome voucher code"

now basically everyone subscribing your newsletter will get the voucher, basically new customers that register and have the checkbox for newsletter ticked.

You can also talk about this coupon directly in your homepage, or send it automatically by SMS when customer register using my module

yes because when you define your coupon in admin there is an option like "uses per customer" = 1 in your case

But this won't work only for first customer order on the store but for the following customer order, even if it's the first or not.
