How many addons does it take for Prestashop to work properly ?

I don't want to sound critical but it's pretty obvious that Prestashop is just a skeleton without meat, need to purchase the meat

For example,  the shipping cost setup doesn't make much sense. In carriers you can only have zones, so Prestashop assumes that the shipping cost is the same in all of North America. Wouldn't be nice if it was true, unfortunately it isn't. Not sure there is a free work around, creating new zones will require changing states locations, re-configuring taxes.

Any idea how to get around this problem ?

whenever possible use logic in a 3rd party application,  for example shipstation.

so when looking for solutions don't just look at prestashop module solution but look for something that integrates with prestashop but is handled by 3rd party app...ps modules cannot compete with quality and features of 3rd party apps,  just feed them the data.

I checked shipstation site and prestashop is not in the partners list and I think it's only good in U.S.A., where do I find these 3rd party apps ?

search for 'ecommerce returns management' for example or subscriptions....  shipstation has a lot of carrier integrations and there are more, the point is while upfront it might take more than you can do on your own to integrate a 3rd party app, they are almost 'always' more productive than trying to build or buy a PS solution.  So offloading back office accounting/shipping/stock management, pricing, prod availability provides more robust application solution....

hey shipstations is just an example of integrating remote application....the purpose of my post is that we should first look for 3rd party remote appl to admin our PS's rather than always a module solution...happy integrating.....now I'm referring to shops with more than a couple orders a day, i.e. where if they were to have to process every shippinig label from admin as opposed from a nice gui.
