Admin Error 500 after Changing Domain Name

Recommended Posts

1and1.com has a simple switch to set Prestashop to point to a different domain. I followed the simple steps in 1and1's control panel to change the shop domain, then reassigned the SSL to the new doman, then logged in to Prestashop's admin page to the SEO & URL's section to change the domain/SSL name to the new one. Now my admin page has become inaccessible with the HTTP 500 Error. My only thought from reading the forums is that in the Prestashop backend I should have put the domain 'milavideo.com' without the http/https. But I'm not 100% sure. How can I access the SEO & URL's page directly in FileZilla to modify and see if that works? Could it be something else that I'm missing here? Because the frontend is working fine on the new domain. I appreciate the help!

Hi Mila,

Please always include your full PS version.

When you receive 500 error enable ps debug mode to get the underlying php error.  Search as there are many guidies to do so based on your PS version.

To access the domain info on seo&url page go to your hosting and open  PhpMyAdmin, look in table (prefix)_configuration, there you can also modify.

If FO is ok then I'm going to assume that the .htaccess was rebuilt

Thank you for your response. I am using 1.7.2.

So I called in to my hosting provider, they confirmed on the backend that the configuration was modified correctly. They went ahead and refreshed on the same steps that I performed:

1. Reassign SSL to new domain

2. Assign new domain to Prestashop location on server (from within hosting control panel)

3. Navigate to SEO&URL Section in Prestashop backend and enter new domain details (without http:// or https://)

Now everything is working on the backend. I don't believe they had to do any .htaccess rebuilding. Cache flush, site refresh, any of the above, but it seems to be OK now.
