IrishGuy
I am currently trying to move my store from one server to another (same hosting company but moving from Apache to cPanel). I'm having a nightmare downloading all my files, server keeps cutting out and I'm painstakingly trying to get everything downloaded before putting it back online. In my new cPanel hosting, I went to Prestashop and it gave an option to Import using Softaculous. Has anyone tried this before when moving servers? It looks a bit too easy to just plug in your details and let it run but I can't seem to find any information online from anyone using it apart from the Softaculous site. Has anyone used it and been successful or anyone have any good advise on moving servers? I've been following the steps here mainly: https://www.prestashop.com/en/blog/how-to-migrate-prestashop-to-a-new-server Running version 1.6.1.
jetx
I wouldn't use softaculous to install anything but pain. You should simply gzip everything in your root and download that. Then edit the files offline. That guide suggests using ftp which I wouldn't use for this, except to upload your gzip to your new domain, and even then I'd be using sftp. To download your compressed site I suggest using freedownload manager (https), it will download a 2gb site in a few seconds (depending upon your connection).
