"Mail alerts" nowhere to be found

I recently installed 1.6.1.23. There was no mail alerts module. I looked in the "modules and services" section, and could not locate it. Web searches turned up many dead links, and a few live ones to githup. I tried downloading and installing the module from github, I uploaded and installed to the site, got a  "download successful" message from my site, but it still does not show up in the list of modules.

I need to be able to be notified when an order is placed.

Please help.

The file you linked seems to have at least installed.

Not sure how to use the github files. Copy one by one?

Both versions at https://github.com/PrestaShop/mailalerts/releases did not work.

are you sure you have your filter in the module section at: installed and not installed, and: enabled and disabled?

After that you just tick in the search: mailalerts and it should popup

in Version 1.6.1.23 the modul is not implemented correctly!

if you want to use the module from github, you must first unpack it, rename the folder mailaerts-master to mailalerts, and then pack this folder again as a zip-file. But you can also use my file, i've done nothing else and i have installed it in several shops with success.
