Arrange the categories on top of the website displaced

Hello,

I startet with Prestashop this month and I want to adjust the design now. Therefore I want to ask you if it is somehow possible to display the categories on top of the website displaced and below each other and then put a small preview image behind each category. I think that would look more elegant for my website. Please see attached image.

I am very grateful if somebody could tell me any solution for my idea. Is there a free module that I can use to adjust the place where a category in the head is displayed?
