liamgallagher
Hi everybody, Im currently trying to setup a webstore using prestashop but im finding it hard importing csv's.Ive been floating around the forum for a few days trying to find a solution but to no avail so thought I'd join!I have a spreadsheet full of categores, sub and parent only when I upload it to my site Prestashop doesnt take into consideration the hierarchy of the categories and just shows a mixture of sub and parent categories...When im in the admin part also, under catalog It shows 21 categories, again both sub and parent as opposed to just my 4 parent categories...You can see the culprit here at Itshers.co.ukHeres a snapshot of my spreadsheet, please excuse the content, it is for an adult website...Image
Bewitching
Categories in one column, separated by a comma Like this: Parent category, subcategory, subcategory (All in the same cell)Name is for the products name, so lets use the "JackRabbit Vibrator", (assuming you sell one lol ) So, using the image you attached, it would look like this :Name..... Jack Rabbit ////// Category ..... Sextoys,Vibrators,Bullet Vibrators. <-- This should be a table, but none available in this forum. For each product, you have to list the categories as shown above.Using the product sheet you get from your supplier, if the categories and sub-categories are listed individually in separate cells, you'd have to concatenate the categories into one cell.If you need help with the concatenate part, PM me & I'll help you out :-) ( do I get a discount LOL J/K )

liamgallagher
Hi Bewitching, I've tried your advice posted only its not actually working, its showing home > home > home and then all the categories show up as a grid in the center column?Have you any ideas? Thanks again
Bewitching
Hi Liam,You don't add "home" to your spreadsheet hon. Home is listed in prestashop only for use to add "featured" products to the "home" page, which you do manually via the back-office, when you want a product to show as "featured"So, if you list "home" in your spreadsheet as a "category" it will list all those categories in the grid format you're seeing, as if they are all "featured" Categories separated by a comma: Sextoys,Vibrators,Bullet Vibrators <--- no "home"Don't add home as a category in your spreadsheet. liamgallagher
You can see whats happening here http://www.itshers.co.ukWould I be best setting categories up first, giving them an id number and then in my csv change (Sex Toys,Sex Toys For Men,Masturbators) to the relevant category ID such as (3, 5, 1) ?
