<Solved>Client Deleted Home category

Hi there,

My client started adding products to his shop without my knowledge and I was not even done with site. He has deleted the main parent category home somehow and now I have issues.

1. Category block is missing from left column.
2. When I click on subcategories that client created I get a blank screen.
3. When I try to edit subcategories or products I get blank screen.


I do not know how to fix this or even how he was able to delete parent category.

I don't think there is way to delete Home category at back office. But it could be deleted via Database admin tools.
If just the Home deleted (I guess you from DB tool), you can try to added it back via DB tool to see if it fixes the issue.

But I guess the issue may be caused by other cause. Have you tried to change following lines in file /config/config.inc.php to see if there is any error occurring?

Under Catalog it

usually reads something like this....
1 subcategory in category "Home"


Now it reads ......
19 subcategories in category "Blades"


My backoffice breadcrumbs under the catalog are supposed to read .....
Current Category (icon of house) Home


Now is reads...
Current Category (icon of house) Blades.

From the behavior you described, it seems that the HOME is still there, only changed is the name.
Please check your database ps_category table to see if HOME category with ID=1 still exists.

Can someone please be more clear on this problem?..bc I am having the same issue and cannot figure out how to fix it. It wont let me create categories or edit anything for that matter. Thank you!
