500 internal server error - randomly

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

Woke up today, to randomly find that my website had a 500 interal server error. Could access the back end fine, but nothing on the front end.

I haven't changed any permissions on the site at all, or edited anything.

Any ideas what's causing this?

Thanks in advance.

Oh yea, I was a big vague wasn't I =)

V1.1, and yea it's a custom theme. I have changed a couple of modules, but only the tpl files to change their appearance.

My host is Liquidweb, a linux VPS.

Literally didn't change any settings at all since I last visited my site yesterday, and woke up today to find it throwing a 500 error.

I do regularly - that wasn't an issue.

What was in fact the problem, was the google analytics code I was using. I'd put the tracking code in the header file manually, as I forgot the analytics module was installed.

Very strange though how it was fine, and all of a sudden gave me this error.

Took the analytics code out, and is working fine now.
