v1.4 pricing breaks

i am just trying to understand how the 1.4 pricing section works.

What i would like to achieve is a buy 2 get the third item free scenario

however it seems i can only apply a discount across all items once you reach three items.

so if i order 3 then great it can apply a 33% discount and give one free. but if i buy 4 then it still now applies the 33% discount.

I do not want the 33% discount to be applied again until the 6th item at that point.

I guess this comes down to a single question

Can i offer buy x get x free ?

and can i do it cross product as i sell various items of different flavours and i want to sell 3 of any of them where the 3rd one is free.
