[SOLVED]upgrade to 1.4.0.14 causes a complete reinstall and all customers have to regenerate a new password

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Whenever I try to upgrade from 1.4.0.2 to 1.4.0.14 tabs in the admin are missing and have other problems with the product and customers table so I do a fresh install and, after fixing the database tables, I input the table listings into the database via phpmyadmin.

The problem I'm running into after that is that the new key is affecting the customer's login and they all have to generate a new password to login to their account afterwards.

Is there a way to do a fresh install and have the customers use their regular login to login instead of having to regenerate a new password?

I tried putting the old key in the new key place but that just messed up the whole site and stylesheet.

Thanks!

It seems that after a fresh install you replace the old cookie key and the cookie_IV code with the old one in config -> settings_inc.php then you can add back your database tables to the fresh install for the customers with their secure key and employees with their cookie via phpmyadmin and passwords will not have to be regenerated by either the customer or the employee.

Some admin tabs are missing during an upgrade but I saw a bug report that said it was fixed.

The new listings for the customer tables are missing and some of the old table listings are still in the products table and the products table listings is out of order in phpmyadmin.
