EXAMPLE:

You should use customisation instead of attributes to do that. Go to the “5. Customization” tab of the product editor, then enter “1” under “Text fields”, then click “Update settings”, then enter the label of the text fields as “Age”, tick “Required” if the customer must enter their age, then click “Save labels”.
