Need help with 'request uri' for affiliate

I want to create affiliate program. So I test it out by creating 'test'
- First I create affiliator #1 user name: test
- and I put '%test' in REQUEST URI

so that person can use 'http://www.mysite.com/index.php?test' link insert into his image signature.
When a visitor click his signature and visits my site and purchase a product, affiliator#1 gets commission from purchase only.

It was working ok. Now I test it again by creating 'test2'
- First I create affiliator #2 user name: test2
- and I put '%test2' in REQUEST URI

Now the system detects sale as done by affiliator#1!!!
- I tried 'test2' and got the same result. All sales were recorded into affiliator#1

Please help me here.

Do you have a cookie on your computer that identifies you as tester #1 ?

I think this feature needs a better guide.
I did what you did,

%test 

and also tried

\%

and

\\%

but the clicks are not logged, also tried clear out the cookies but no success. Must be doing something wrong..
