krisharris
I'm currently trying to change my websites VAT to 20% as some of my wholesale purchasers are complaining. If I adjust the 17.5% in the BO to 20% it increases the retail price with tax. I want the Retail price to be at its current level but want the pre-tax price to change. I have well in excess of a 1000 products so changing them all individually is not a viable option. Any Ideas please

audiotek10
When the UK VAT rate went up, I left the name of the vat at 17.5% but just changed the value to 20%. So far as I can see there is no way to do what you're wanting to do within the PS interface. Adding 2.5% to the pre-tax price will not give the correct VAT amount. You should charge VAT correctly at 20% and show this on your sales receipt. All of my customers pay me VAT whether or not they are VAT registered themselves. (except of course EU with VAT number or non EU).Could you clarify the reason for changing the pre-tax price? I may be able to help further if I properly understand. I don't want my comments to sound like i'm picking holes in the way you run your website :-)However here are two suggestions which may help you...1. Why don't you change the VAT rate to 20% and then set up a group for your wholesalers which gives them an automatic discount on their purchases. That way you could charge the correct VAT but still give them the discount they need. If you don't know how to do this, let me know.2.You could perhaps do an SQL query to add 2.5% to all the prices directly in the database. This is certainly not my area of expertise but maybe someone else can say if this is a possibility or not. Remember to ALWAYS backup your database in cpanel before you mess with it. Writing an SQL query in PHP is not too difficult, but it's been ages since i've done it so wouldn't want to ruin your database!Hope this helpsDave.
