Customer upload Process: (what happens)

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I have scoured the forums and the net for a upload solution for PrestaShop, to no avail.

So I'm going to try to use the custom file field option.

Can some one describe to me what happens in that process? I was unable to find any info by searching.

What I'm looking for is what happens after a user uploads an image via the shopping cart?

I know they get a thumbnail that is stored in the Uploads folder. but how do I tie this image to the order? Is the attached image shown in the orders screen for me to down load and manipulate at will? Is this the original size file? Or is if resized by the software?

If I use custom text, how is it shown to me?

This is for a shop that offers customs products.

Will the customer get some type of notification on the invoice?

any ideas?

thanks!

Hi Omar.

I have a similar problem and I was just wondering if you've figured out what happens? I also have the problem that customers will need to upload a large image file - maybe upto 10mb but I get I get the error message “Maximum allowed: 131.072KB” so I'm stuck at the moment. Any ideas?

Regards
John

Hi
When you add customization to a product the customer can add a photo and text to the order, the image will be uploaded and attached to the order along with the text. Boith are visible from the Orders tab in the BO, clicking on the image in the order allows you to download and save the image locally so that you can use it for the creation of personalised gifts or products.

You can upload almost any size image but I would recommend keeping it below about 3M, if you can, as the upload times for the customer can become excessive if it is bigger, very dependant on their broadband speed. You can configure the maximum size of upload in the BO-Products-Preferences tab, near the bottom.

If you configure this to be bigger and try to upload a large file and you get a blank screen then it almost certainly means that PHP on your host has to be configured to allow larger file uploads, this is relatively easy to achieve and there are many posts on this site detailing ways of doing this and the recommended settings.
