Biaggi
Hi, i tried to find solution in earlier posts but couldn't find anything.I have recently uptade from version 1.2.2 to 1.3.6 and put a new template, i did everything as writen in the uptade instruction but there seems to be multiple problems.First of all mails are not working, i'm not receiving mails from the shop (contact form or orders) even couldn't receive mail from "password notification" when login to Back Office (i did get to back office different way).Secon all of my carriers except personall collection are not shown when placing a order, but they are all in place in BO and have good configuration.Third, beyond the mail and carrier problem when placing an order it is not even shown in BO order tab.please help
Paul C
Have you tried the store using the default Prestashop theme, just to confirm that there's a problem with the theme and not the installation itself?Paul
Biaggi
thank u for reply, no u misunderstand me i'm 99% sure that it's a problem beacouse of an upgrade not the theme. It's the same with default theme or the new one. When i'm placing an order i'm not receiving email or the client as well, contact form doesn't send emails. The order doesn't appear in BO. It's like the front page would miss some connection (database?) to BO, but other things does work from BO (like changing themes language and modules). Also forgot to mention that after upgrading the featured products on homepage are cut in strange position and the pictures are blur, like they would be resize from a miniature (just the front page) and every modules from right column block are now below the featured products modul. Paul C
As a starting point you should clean out all of the compiled smarty files and delete any cookies (FO and BO) on your machine. The featured products and modules display problems are weird as they should at least display properly in the default theme - have you made any changes to any of the modules etc ?Paul
Biaggi
i managed to deal with the front page problem, the new theme required to swap featured products module so when i put the oryginal folder from presta instalation it's ok, still that doesn't solve my biger problems. Maybe i should go back to 1.2.2, i have a copy of old version presta folder, all that is required is to delete the new files and put the old folder back? Paul C
Did you run the installer for the new version? If not then the database will not have been upgraded and that may be causing your problems...If you did run the database upgrade, then to go back to your previous version you'll need to restore the database from backup as well as restoring the files. If you didn't, then all you need to do is restore the files.Paul
Biaggi
yes i did run the installer so i asume database is upgraded, i have a backup of database. So if i want to put the old version back i should delete new version, put the old files back and then restore database in my admin host company panel? Is it better to use ftp client like Total Commander to transfer files or files manager from my admin panel (i have the old files on my hard drive, as well as on server in old_presta folder)? Paul C
Your approach is correct yes. How you transfer the files is personal preference. If you have the files backed up in a folder on the server, then it will be quickest to just move them back into your store folder (delete the new version first, in case there are any new additional files that may cause confusion in the future). I personally use FileZilla as my ftp client of choice - I always force file transfers to be "binary" too as this can prevent problems with incorrect CRLF translations during transfers.Paul
Biaggi
yes i had already go back to 1.2.2 and everything seems to be working without a problem, even without restoring database, with i did just in case. It seems that i will have to stay on 1.2.2 for a while or hire someone who could upgrade my store (as i simply don't have time to do it and can't afford to put store offline for more than a day), but i'll wait for 1.4 final release. Thank u for your help.
Paul C
It's a shame it didn't go smoothly for you, but at least you've got things back to "normal" I'm working on an upgrade right now from 1.2.4 to 1.4 and it isn't trivial, especially if the store has core modifications, but it now looks like a thing of beauty with all those nice clean overrides in place Paul
