Some n00b questions

Hi guys,

I'm looking at using PrestaShop for an online store and so far it's looking pretty cool. After spending the last few hours browsing through the forums I do have some basic questions though.

1) Is there any way to integrate PrestaShop directly into an existing site? From what I've seen it's pretty stand alone, which would mean I either point all "buy" links in the original site to the shop sub-site, or edit the shop sub-site to be the main site. Is there a way to take portions of PrestaShop as needed?

2) The site that I'm building it for is a download-only site; selling PDFs etc. I've seen a lot of forums threads on this and it doesn't seem clear whether or not PrestaShop works for a download-only site. Is there a guide or walkthrough somewhere that goes over what you need to change to get this working (for example, removing the need to sign up, or at the very least removing the requirement for having to enter your address etc)? As what we're selling is pretty cheap (around €5 for the most part), I'm afraid people won't be bothered going through with the sale if they're presented with all of this.

3) I created a simple item, but it's not showing up on the shop home page (i.e. mysite.com/prestashop). I can go directly to it (i.e. /prestashop/product.php?id_product=3) however. Am I missing something basic?

4) When creating an item, and selecting "Is this a downloadable item?", there's 2 fields: "Number of downloads" and "Number of days". If I understand this correctly, "Number of downloads" means that the person can download from the link that's sent x number of times, while "Number of days" means? Going by this link: http://www.prestashop.com/wiki/Downloadable_products/, it says "enter number of days during customers keep acces to his file." Does this mean that the customer can't access their file on their computer after x days, or that the download link expires after x days?

5) The mail functionality doesn't seem to be working. I'm using a basic install (no added modules) and it's 1.3.6. Is it because I'm running on localhost? Do I need to set up the STMP? (I left it on the basic use php_mail() function)

Sorry for the overloaded post, but if you could help with any or all of these questions, it'd be appreciated. I'm pretty impressed with PrestaShop, it seems cool.
