DVD Store theme layout question

I really like the look and feel of the DVD Store theme http://addons.prestashop.com/en/art-culture/1244-dvd-store.html. It's almost exactly what I'm after EXCEPT the products i want to sell are better suited to landscape rather than portrait images (as a DVD cover is).

I'm fairly OK with changing coding, so I was wondering how big a task it would be for me to alter a couple of parts of the layout - for example on the home page, instead of three vertical blocks, change it to two horizontal blocks. And likewise on the category pages to change it from 4 vertical to three horizontal, so it resembles the product layouts found in the Deco Evo template http://addons.prestashop.com/en/interior-furniture/1606-deco-evo.html

I'm not worried about spending time and trial and error on it, was just wondering if anyone could let me know how much is involved before i take the plunge and purchase!

That template does look awesome!
Does anyone know of a free ones for DVD/Movie store? Please dont post a link if it has 1000s of popups, or I have to pay. I am new to PHP so I am looking for a simple and easy themes for my test website.
