CB
As many people have listed postings seeking step by step instructions for setting up payment processing through pay pal – I being one of them, but unable to find a specific, not assuming the user knows anything about doing these things, I am writing these instructions. I am a newbie myself and spent a number of hours searching and figuring this out to fill in the blanks that seem to be assumptions by people who are a more techno savy. No offence but every industry has it’s experts that we appreciate but the newbie’s can get lost with “you have to …..” but leaving no instructions on how to do what was recommended. Some of this is overlap with what is already out there but some is not.- Go into paypal, setting up an actual business account there.- In another browser window, go into paypal sandbox and set up a fake business account and a fake buyer account through their easy set up. Use the automatic set up not the manual and it will generate fake email addresses that you will use later on for the sandbox test. Use the same passwords as instructed by pay pal for each of the fake business and buyer accounts. Keep this browser window open because you will need both the fake buyer and the business (seller) email addresses later to use in the actual test. - In another browser window, log into prestashop admin panel and go to the “payment” tab, click on “configure” to the right side of “paypal” (not API). (Now you should be in the Paypal module)- Scroll down to “paypal business email”. Now – go back to the window where you set up the paypal business and buyer accounts and copy the email address of the fake business account listed. Switch back to the prestashop admin paypal module you opened with this step and paste this fake business address in the “paypal business email” spot. - Just below where you pasted the address, click to change “sandbox mode (test)” to “yes” and then click “update settings”. - In another browser window, open your store front. Go to the login page to create a new user/customer. - Go back to the sandbox browser window and copy the fake buyer email address from here and then paste it into the create new user/customer spot and finish creating the new customer account in your shop/store front. - Go back to the paypal sandbox and, making sure that the fake business account is selected, click the button “enter sandbox test site”. – You will not see an accounts window where payments will show later from the test you will do.- Go back to your store front and with the fake customer you created using the paypal sandbox fake account, make a paypal purchase. (If you skipped to this you have to make sure that you changed the back office paypal email to the fake sandbox business account as in steps 2-4 above and clicked to test account as in step 5.)- The purchase should show up in the fake seller/business account you created. If so you should be set. If not – you are likely having other problems that this post will not be able to help you with. Good luck – Hope it works for others too!By the way Prestashop – you need to fix the link in pretashop back office in the paypal module to link to setting up paypal through more than just the French version of paypal. In 1.3.4 it only links to the French version and is not helpful to anyone else but French speaking people. :-)
