Purchasing modules then upgrading Presta

Hi folks,

Right now I am in process of moving our site from a very damaged 1.6 site to a clean install of 1.7. But in the meantime I need to buy some modules that need to be in use before I can be ready to move to the new version. My question is if buy module that supports both versions but first install it on a 1.6 site and then move that site to 1.7, am I going to be forced to buy that module once again?

I am pretty sure they are licensed to the domain but just want to check before I purchase another module I can't really use.

Thanks for any help.

few modules 1.6 compliant are also (same code) 1.7 compliant.  Most developers started creating separate zips for major versions.  You woud want to download both the 1.6 and 1.7 version (not sure that is possible on addons).

I'm not sure why you would really need them on damaged 1.6 shop given you are going to move to 1.7.

maybe easier to have someone fix you 1.6 shop :)

Yeah it sure would but that would cost money. I sadly cannot print money so that is even less of an option.

The reason I need for the 1.6 shop is, at this point, I have no idea when and if the new shop will ever be ready. I do not find Presta that easy to work with at all, although I have worked with computers (mostly graphics) for well over 25 years. Produced my first web site in '94. Something about this system just does not click with me and very little makes any sense and I find the learning material worthless. Just my opinion.

BTW, you never really answered my question and you say that few mods are 1.6 and also 1.7 compliant. But that I should download 2 versions and that your not sure if that is possible. This doesn't clear up anything for me. Because almost every mod that I look at says it supports 1.6-1.7. I am not sure if that means two different files but that should not matter. I need to know if the license is associated with the domain or if it can only be used once.
