Back Office Visitors Online Now Accuracy Issue

On the Back Office first page there are some statistics with a calendar. Below this there is 'Visitors Online Now'
This number changes on a regular basis, but how reliable is it. The reason I ask is that I have a new site that I am building that is totally new, there are no links pointing to it, it is not in any search engines yet. To the outside world it does not exist but this counter shows a varying number of 'visitors online now' from 2 to 13. The only person looking at my site is me, so how can it show as many as 13 visitors online now.

Do I disregard this number as its obviously wrong or do I need to make a setting change somewhere to accurately show a correct 'visitors online now' number.
