Are discount vouchers one-time use?

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking of setting up a rewards program (Customer loyalty program which was one of the modules that came with prestashop) on my ecommerce site and I was wondering are the discount vouchers 1 time use? Just to make sure since I don't want the discount voucher to be used over and over again. :P

Thanks for you help. :)

You can set those settings when creating a voucher... also you can change them. Payment >> Vouchers.

For customer loyalty vouchers, Yes, I believe they are one time use and only usable by a specific customer. That loyalty voucher is linked to a specific customer account. You would have to change code if you did not want this to be by default, but I don't know why you wouldn't.

Also, to my knowledge, a customer has to use the voucher all at once otherwise it becomes void after the first use. So, they can't purchase a $50.00 item with a $100 worth voucher, and then expect to use that voucher on future purchase thinking that their is still $50 remaining for that code. The vouchers do not work this way, and one of the reasons that a gift certificate module isn't available... and a feature that has received a lot of criticism for PS.

Again, not much experience with loyalty vouchers yet... but seeing how the voucher feature is setup. NO the customer would not be forced to use it on their NEXT purchase.

I don't think there even is a feature that exists to do something like that... the customer has to manually input the code. An as far as limitations go, I think you can only set the beginning and ending dates for a voucher.

So although you can't force a customer to use it on their next purchase, you can put a limited time the voucher would be viable for. I'm not sure what the default time setting for loyalty vouchers are... but I think it's 1 year. Again you would have to change code to modify this time setting... or manually modify it through the BO once the voucher is created.

HTH!
