Kaihaku
There are advantages and disadvantages to both. 1. to have a blog or a section where i list articles on my prestashop site? Incoming links to that blog will be attributed to the main domain, improving it's search rating. This will also help to present a unified front to new customers and the internal linking structure will favor your main site.2. create a new blog on a different domain and put links on that blog linking to my prestashop site? The blog will be considered a separate entity by search engines, which means that it will have to stand on it's own SEO and that it's SEO will not directly affect the store's standing. However, this means that the two appear as separate entries and that is good if you want to dominate organic search results, pushing down rivals and controlling several of the top slots.I will say that I think that a subdomain, like blog.store.com, is preferable to a completely different domain. inveostore.com
I basically agree with Kaihaku. To get an effect - visitors to blog - as soon and as fast as possible I would recommend to start the blog on your PS site in a folder for example and then after some time move it to separate domain via HTTP 301 but with keeping links on blog to your PS site. By doing so, you will get faster results and your new blog site receive great credibility without doing massive link building.

Thanks for the responses. But the last part i want to understand better. This subdomain will benefit the advantages of first or second option? I mean will it be seen as part of my main site or will it be seen as stand-alone?

Exactly, good you brought it up.A subdomain will look like a completely different domain, so stay away from it.Instead put the blog in a sub folder ofyour main presta shop domain. Kaihaku
Thanks for the responses. But the last part i want to understand better. This subdomain will benefit the advantages of first or second option? I mean will it be seen as part of my main site or will it be seen as stand-alone? A subdomain would have the advantages of the second option. There is one additional advantage though in regards to brand recognition, users will be more likely to remember blog.store.com over blogstore.com, blogstore.net, blogofstore.com, and so on. If your SEO is top of the line, I think using a subdomain is a good option but if you have strong competition it's probably better to go with the first option. Burhan BVK
If you want the blog to help you get a better google ranking definitely go for having the blog on the same domain as the shop. Having the blog in a subdomain or a different domain will definitely not help.If you want to use a different software for the blog (like wordpress) you can install it in a subfolder and put a link from your shop and back. mfhepp
What you should definitely add to your shop, in parallel to all other SEO efforts, is the free Rich Snippets module that adds GoodRelations data markup to your site: http://addons.prestashop.com/en/seo/3866-rich-snippets-and-semantic-seo-with-goodrelations.html Best Martin Hepp
chetwyn
I'm not blogging indie my site but providing a link. i.e. you could just link to your blog: www.domainname.com.au/blog/ this mean you get the advantage of a separate blogging capability and shoppers just shop, not blog.
