csv import and back up

I have imported categories and sub categories, but now im left with 2x home categories with the option to open, these now open with the new cats imported and also new cats are cats of their own. I have now deleted them all from back end and cant import at all now. What do i do.

Also i have a back up but what do i do with it?

If and when back to back up what was wrong with my original category import for this to happen?

I'm having the same problem really.
Messed up categories trying toimport via csv twice now.
Cannot delete all categories to get back to normal.
I did a backup but have no clue what so ever how to restore. Surely there should be a "roll back" or simple restore from last backup option as i just dont understand where to start with all this myphpadmin etc.

Had to wipe all 3500+ files from my host and re-install the original download files to install from fresh again.
I don't want to do this a 2nd time as i will just give up and throw the computer through the window.
I fear that i am just not qulaified to use all this and if i start from a fresh and want to upload my 1000+ products via csv i will cock it all up again and all my work will be lost again.
