Error with installation - help needed

I uploaded all of the files to my host and gave the permissions to the folders as instructed.

Then I made sure that my host is using PHP 5 instead of 4.

When I point to

/PrestaCart/install/

in the browser, I get the following error message:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function simplexml_load_file() in /html/PrestaCart/install/classes/LanguagesManager.php on line 21

I CHMOD the lang folder 755.

What do I do now? Please help.

Actually, now when I try to open the install file, I get a blank page.

I asked my host about the simplexml extension and they didn't know anything about it ... ?

Am I unable to use this script on my host????

Try running this little php script on your webspace to see what has been installed (search for simplehtml in the output). Upload to file through an FTP program to your webspace and run it like http://www.yourdomain.com/phpinfo.php (adjust to where ever you uploaded it).

I don't see it. If it's not enabled, I guess the script won't work ... ?

You should see a section like shown in attached picture. If it isn't there I guess you are in need of a new hosting company.

I just got it to work! I had to configure the php.ini file to enable the extension.

I have just started with Prestashop (after years of osCommerce) myself and I like it already very much. Try the latest beta and wait for it to become the stable release (won't take long I think, no schedule yet though).

I think I tried to use osCommerce a long time ago and had problems with it and gave up on it.

I'm hoping this will be more user-friendly and advanced.

I love the showcases! There is a lot of variety.

I hate when all of the sites look the same but that isn't the case with these sites.
