Prestashop Update Notification Error

I have Prestashop 1.6.1.20 and suddenly I am getting a notification in the Prestashop update tab that an update is ready for me.  I am guessing this is an error.

It is not an error , you really can update to 1.7.4.2. 

PrestaShop finally made stable autoupgrade module version 4.0.0

that can update from 1.6 to 1.7.

 

Now do you need to upgrade, probably not. If you store is working fine

and have  regular income that why changes something that works.

But if you want to upgrade it is an option. Of cource you can try that 

on test server and see how it goes.

Thank you for the reply! I'd definitely love to try the new version but assume all of my modules arent compatible and would cause all kinds of unneeded headache.  Are you done updating 1.6 then?

In October apparently, so you might want to have a look at the new version. Please note that a majority of modules unfortunately still is not available. It might take some more time. I would recommend migrating next year, after the holiday season.
