theothersimon
We have in the region of 30,000 ghost carts (bot generated carts) in our presta shop. My guess is most people using Prestashop have this problem, its just that they haven't noticed - it was only by chance that we discovered this whilst investigating excessive bandwidth use by Google - already 7gig this month alone. We discovered we had not put the robots.txt file in place - we have now. We will give it a week or so to see if this makes any changes. In the meantime the ghost carts just keep on piling up. There seem to be 2 main solutions put forward - one is in the .htaccess the other is editing the carts.phpSo. Is there an *approved* solution to this issue?? We are running 1.3.5. Pixel
The devs said they'd fixed it on svn in August 2010, so it should be Ok in the later versions of 1.3.x.Have a look at this thread (post #17) and see if you have the fixes (eg. POSTs instead of GETs) in your files.Stopping bots creating carts
theothersimon
Thanks pixel, I have seen this thread, and even though I have the experience and confidence to edit the code, it is actually unclear what should be changed or added because of the discussion about the forum adding in semicolons to the code. I will post to that thread and ask for a clarification.
theothersimon
The link above seems to have worked on our 1.3.5. It also seems to have killed the colossal bandwidth consumption of google bot. I guess creating 40,000 ghost carts takes up 10 gig of transfer per month.
