Tracking Number - customer can not find it !!

It was said several months ago that the missing tracking # issue was fixed. My customers have been telling me there is no way to find the tracking # so I checked it myself just now. I’m using 1.1b3, BTW. And it seems it's true, tracking # is still missing.

The way I see it, it’s actually impossible for the tracking number to be placed in the “Shipped” email because the input box for the tracking # does not appear until after the order status is set to “Shipped”. So.. the email goes out saying the order has shipped, but no reference to a tracking # is included because it could not have been entered yet.

Ok, so now I enter the tracking # in the input box – but no additional email is ever sent out !!

Further, in the customer’s “My Account”, the tracking URL (preset by admin) is listed in the order, but still, there is no tracking # ! (yes the @ was in the query string in the backend)

Also, the website doing the tracking for us only accepts POST, not GET, so a query string is useless anyway.

I would suggest making the Tracking URL and tracking # into separate display fields for the customer. And also suggest sending an additional email once the tracking # is entered into the system.
