Attribute Grid on PS 1.6 not refreshing cart

Hi there, 

we sell tickets to an event on our website with attributes Adult, Child 1-3, Child 4-6, Child 7-9, Child 10+ - these are set using Attribute Grid v1.6.5

If I have 2 left in stock and I add 3 x Adults to my cart then I get the message "There isn't enough product in stock. " and nothing is added to the cart. This is perfect.

However, if I add for example 1 x adult, 1 x Child 1-3 & 1 x Child 7-9 then I get the message "You already have the maximum quantity available for this product." in an image overlay and you have to click the X to close the overlay. 

The problem here is that the first two attributes are added to the cart and the cart does not refresh so you cant actually tell something was added to the cart until you manually refresh the screen.
This will prove very problematic for the customer.

 

Is there a way to even have the screen refresh once the customer clicks the X to close the message overlay?

Please advise.
