mrplow
I have read about 30 threads hoping to find an answer and nothing is coming up.I simply cannot add a new language to my shop.I have checked the CHMOD settings a million times, according to all threads I have read and the wiki and install guides the folders that should be writeable are so.I have created the new language. This works.I have tried to upload a gzip language pack, this does not work. I even deleted French and then tried to re-add it, this doesn't work. 1 error 1. archive cannot be extracted I have also tried to copy English to my new language, so I can do the translations myself, and this doesn't work. 1 error 1. a part of the data has been copied but some language files could not be found or copied PLLEEEEAASE someone tell me what stupid idiotic mistake I am making, I am going out of my mind!!! rocky
The error "The archive cannot be extracted" means that either the archive is corrupted or the ZipArchive class isn't available on your server. The second error message occurs when there are missing language files from the source language, or you don't have permission to copy the files. mrplow
Thank you Rocky I'll send a support ticket to my host (3dpixelnet) asking about the ZipArchive class. As for the latter, I have chmodded until the cows come home. Is there somewhere I might be missing that perhaps you could suggest?

mrplow
1-3-5I did not upgrade to 1-3-6 yet... I do have a 1-3-6 testing installation which gives the same errorsAlso when I create a new language, I get this message everytime No language pack available on prestashop.com for this iso code I don't know if that suggests anything. This happens for 'fr, es' even 'en'...
mrplow
My host solved this for me. In case it affects anyone else, it was due to php 'safe_mode' being turned on. Turned it off and bang everything works.
joho
The error "The archive cannot be extracted" means that either the archive is corrupted or the ZipArchive class isn't available on your server. The second error message occurs when there are missing language files from the source language, or you don't have permission to copy the files. But why isn't the Archive_Zip.php file installed by PS into ../classes? The Archive_Tar.php PEAR module is installed. I have the same issue. And it didn't help to install the PEAR class manually to the ../classes directory either (and yes, zlib is compiled into PHP).
TweetyPeety
I solved it differently, it looks like my host doesn't support .gzip files so changed it to .zip and it worked
Bruno Leveque
Using PS 1.4.3 and the "Update" language pack (from prestashop.com) option. What does mean if I can successfully update English, and I can successfully update French, but when I try to update German, Spanish, or Italian, I get the error "archive cannot be extracted" ?If the Update routine works on English and French, then the problem cannot be with my host's php settings... Hi,I guess that you have the appropriate CHMOD on the FR/EN files because they are existing in the original package. You probably need to set some CHMOD on the folders?Regards,
