scomp
firstly hello everyone....this is my first post here.I am working for one of my customers on an SEO project, and he is running PrestaShop. I have used PS in the past, but am by no means an expert in it.I have hit a very odd problem;I need to edit some text on the homepage, however when I make changes using the homepage editor module, they are not reflected on the site....at all. there was previously some text in there....and that text is still showing on the homepage....instead of the new text.I have tried clearing my browser cache....but no joy.does anyone know what could be causing this? Thanks guys. web.geek
What version of PrestaShop? In 1.4, I've had to delete the files in /tools/smarty/compile, and then delete the browser cache to see changes sometimes.

scomp
I've just spoken with my customer about this issue, and apparantly it started happening after some modules were added.....I don't have the prestashop skills to get it sorted, but if anyone is available at the moment drop me a pm as I would be happy to pay for some assistance. rocky
Check to make sure that the modules and modules/editorial directories have chmod 755 permissions and the files in the modules/editorial directory are chmod 644.
web.geek
Just curious: the install doc mentions several folders that should be set to CHMOD 777. I heard that is a bad idea and poses potential risks. Is the doc outdated to the point of inaccuracy? Would 755 be sufficient for those folders as well? rocky
That's right. The Wiki is wrong. They say chmod 777 because some older servers require it, but it is unsafe and you should always use chmod 755 for directories and chmod 644 for files.
