lang.php for the e-mail subjects?

Hello there!

I'm translating and modifying E-mail subjects. I'm currently working on those for the newslettersubscription module. Sadly the changes in the BO to the email subjects don't work. And while the module's emails are listed in the body translation, those don't contain the subject.

I've now also tried my theme's general mail lang.php and I also created a new lang.php in the modules folder within my theme's folder and just used the default translation, such as 'Newsletter confirmation'. I've also entered that into phpmyadmin and couldn't find anything.

Where are the default variables safed? Is there any way to manually edit them?

Same happens with the default account e-mail. If I add

 

$_LANGMAIL['Welcome!'] = 'content goes here!';

 

into my theme's email folder's lang.php file, the subject is still "Welcome!".
