Hi,

I'm looking to move to Prestashop and have looked at version 1.3. I've also evaluated 1.4 and feel that 1.4 has more features and functionality then 1.3 (obviously!) so I have a number of questions:-

1) When do you think 1.4 will be stable enough for a "Live" site?

2) Do you have an "Upgrade" module option that can automatically upgrade prestashop when a new version/release becomes available or do we have to do a manual update all the time?

3) Do you have any information regarding the migrating of data from a 1.3 to 1.4 environment?

4) Are you going to offer a "Full" backup and recovery option (files included) so if the app or server crashes, disaster recovery will be quicker as all you would have to do is restore from the backup (please see Akeeba backup for Joomla). It get's you back up in minutes and saves so much time! :-)

5) Do you have a module that integrates into Joomla?

6) Express checkout option without registering or having to type in any information i.e. straight to Paypal.

Sorry for all the questions, but I really like your product and want to move over to it as soon as 1.4 is stable! :-)

If your interested, I have a number of other idea's regarding the backend management but I'm not sure where to post them?

Best Regards and well done on a great product!

nice, but u have 2 question:

1. why u can only compare product only from 1 category??

what if i have many lcd in diffrent category for example 17' 19' etc...

2. what 'Layered navigation block v1.0' can must do now its only ajax choos category...

The "Sponsorship" isn't a new module. It just means that the existing "Customer referral module" was improved.

You should wait for v1.4 final to be released. Using a beta for a live site is a bad idea. You should use v1.3.5 until it v1.4 final is released. The PrestaShop Updater will upgrade your existing products and database to v1.4.

I was actually answering questions from earlier posts. I can't speak for the PrestaShop team about what features they will add. All I know is that the "Layered navigation" module isn't feature complete. The PrestaShop team started off with filtering by categories only and plan to add the option to filter by more items in the future.

Tried this beta3 two times with a fresh install and a new database.. There is an odd bug:
I can't edit the tpl - files, it won't show the changes, even if I delete half of the code.
When I delete the file (for ex. product.tpl) I get a blank screen, but any other change of the tpl files won't work.
Changes in the CSS files and all the rest of the Shop seems to work nice

I'm really looking forward to the final, keep up the good work guys !

It'll be great ;)

Go to the Preferences > Performance tab and make sure that "Force compile" is set to "Yes". That should force the template to be recompiled when you change them. Once you've finished working on your website, change it back to "No" to speed up your site.

Thanks for the hint, but I already tried this, with no result.
Installed a 1.4beta2 meanwhile, working without problems

This does not work for me either on the SVN, I have to delete the cached templates from /tools/smarty/compile/ every time I make any changes to a template.

I am currently using ZenCart. I have started switching over to prestashop 1.3.5. i love the 1.4.
I would like to start uploading to the 1.4. I have hundreds of products to post. Could I safely start upload all my products to the 1.4. My shop will take at least 3 weeks to get half way uploaded. Could I safely upload my products and set up my store and wait and update to the final version when it is released; before I open my store?

Thanks for the awesome software................

Prestashop develops - it's great!

But, unfortunately, PDF and does not work with Cyrillic - this is very bad (((

tcpdf
http://sourceforge.net/projects/tcpdf/
Release Date: 2011-01-07

Here's the package works with Cyrillic and besides, he very quickly updated

Why the developers did not use it?

Please, could you report this problem into the bug tracker ?
Thanks.

Hello,

I have few issues with v1.4 beta 3 while trying to import my Categories.csv (includes subcategories)
I observed that when there is no Home category with ID 1 in the .csv I'm getting the following message: parent category does not exist

When I add Home category with ID = 1 and ParentID = null or 1 in the .csv, I dont get any error message but it seems that the page is not completely generated and the categories still weren't imported.

I don't have issues importing the same categories .csv in PS v1.3.5.

Also when following the regular updating instructions to update from 1.3.5 to 1.4 beta 3 I got the following error message when trying to access my main page: Invalid loadTaxZones() SQL query!

Thanks!

  • 1 month later...

I am quite new here. I have a problem with pdf files generated in Prestashop.

Korean charactors in the pdf files not showing correctly, is showing like '?? ???? ???'. I have just found out that it is something to do with 'tcpdf' which support multi langauges. I am a bit frustrated getting information to solve this issue myself.

Would anyone please help me out? I am sure that there would be so many developers just like me which would appreciate your contribution. My prestashop version is 1.3.6.0

Cheers,

Through testing and trial and error just figured out two things on import..

1. if you do not have any reductions format your dates like this and it will stop the errors: 1111-11-11
2. for the tax rules field use the # of the tax rule not the name, for example for US-FL (7%) rule, choose 9 see the list of rules for the number if more than one enter 9, 8, 3, and so on in your open office field on import. This stops the tax error and the date error.

I am using 1.4.17 version and worked perfectly now.

You know how next to each category there is a category number right?

Well next to each tax rule there is a number assigned to that rule. So when your setting up your spreadsheet under the column headed Tax Rule enter the number, for example US-FL (7%) for me was actually tax rule #9, so I just wanted to charge tax in only Florida.. so I entered 9 and that is it.

If you wanted to charge tax in several states just put the tax rule # for each state separated by a comma and no spaces.. for example 9,1,2

The rewrite link for array, was just the programming re-doing what you have for a simple URL re-written.

you may have to turn off URL re-writing.. I did.. and that stopped the errors.. those errors mean the URL rewritten field either rewrote to get rid of special charachters or spaces or issues like that, or it means that you don't have Friendly URL's working. But it should not be a big deal. I dont use friendly urls..

result of the url in the internet explorer when someone clicks on product #34/screwdriver for example will be http://www.domainname.com/productid=34 (if non-friendly urls) instead of http://www.domainname.com/screwdriver (friendly urls) for example. Most people could care less what is on the end of the URL string. As long as you use good meta tags, descriptions and keywords it should not affect your SEO strategy either.

Glad it worked!

from the looks of it.. you may have unallowed charachters or spaces in your import file under "URL Rewritten" colum check to see if you have and #, !, @, $, %, &, ^< ., ", \, / or any spaces.. just do find/replace in open office and replace them with - or a letter or number and that should prevent those errors. :)

ScubaLessonsInc,
Thanks for your help.
I turned off the Friendly URL in BO and removed the # sign from my csv file and imported the products.
The result is the same, that means all products are imported but I get the same Warning message. And other issue is that in despite of the tax rules is set correctly in my csv file, in BO the tax is not calculated.
Thanks again.

It could be that your not logged in as a customer so the cart has no zip code to fetch the tax for as you have it based on delivery address.. with no address the cart has nothing to base it on, when you log in and add an address the tax will appear.. looks like it is working correctly now.

Bruce, create a dummy customer account with a complete address and log in, then add something to your cart you will see the tax will display properly. The only reason it does not show in the cart now is your shopping as a person with no address, the cart does not have an address to display the tax for. that is how it is supposed to work.. when you got to the cart you then entered your address, and then it caculated your tax. log off, open a new window and log in now that you have your address for that account and add something to your cart it should work perfectly.
