Manufacturers, attributes and groups

I am new to prestashop -

I have searched the forum and only found 1 topic addressing this and it didn't give the information I needed. I have practiced with prestashop on my pc using wamp and have now had it set up with a host and I am putting together a shop.

My first problem is that I have set up a number of manufacturers but none are showing up on the drop down menu when I add products and so none are linking.

My second problem is that, while the colors attribute is set up with the installation and template that comes with prestashop, the attributes tab is not showing up nor is the name of the product above the info tab next to "current product". In fact - by "current product" it says "no name" even though everything is entered in. I need to add attributes but the tab is not showing up with the product so I can add it.

That should I do?

Ok. Since no one appears to have ideas about resolving this - I contacted my host site and we figured it out! Some background:
I already have an existing public website ASGOutdoorProducts.com on one host. I am currently in the processof converting my website to online sales - with a different host. Because I need my current host to continue to show my current catalog while building my upcoming website, I could not simply point one host to the other, but I also neede to be able to see and work on my developing site. To make this happen - for only me and my new host to be able to see my developing website - I had to add a pointer line of sorts in my windows host file to tell only my computer where to go when I enter my website address.
HERE IS WHERE THE PROBLEM BEGINS TO ENTER THAT CAUSED MY PROBLEM!
Sales at my host told me to enter the host number (don't remember what it is actually called) in the web address bar in this format for access to the admin page. Like this:

http://174.133.---.--/~asgoutdo/admin12/login.php?redirect=index.php

Well in the host file it is similarly listed with the host number:

174.133.---.--/asgoutdoorproducts.com WWW.asgoutdoorproducts.com

THIS DOUBLE ENTRY of the 174.133.---.-- IN THE ADDRESS BAR OF THE BROWSER IN ADDITION TO that required in THE WINDOWS HOST FILE CAUSES SOME OF THE FEATURES IN PRESTASHOP TO DISABLE!!!!!!

Take the number OUT of the address bar and just enter (your web address.com/admin..) in the address bar AND LEAVING the numbers in with the pointer in the windows host file and things work fine!!

Since this also solves the other problem I have listed I will post it there too.
